Pretty Lights recently put out A Color Map of the Sun and really hyped up the release and how this was a full “analog” production from the get-go; he actually got session players to record what he wanted so that he could sample from his own recordings, a process that isn’t totally foreign but one that was new to the veteran producer. The interesting part to me came when he announced his tour supporting the album would feature a full live band, something that I’d definitely want to see go down live.
Last night he debuted how this would probably look on tour by stopping by the Conan O’Brien show. He brought his normal DJ table and added the guys in Break Science, Eric Krasno (Soulive, Lettuce), some horn players and backup singers and emcee Talib Kweli to his arsenal for a performance of “Around the Block.” It stands up entirely well on TV.
Gettin ready to perform with @PrettyLights on @conanobrien with @talibkweli @RealDeitchBeats & @borahmkeys WED night.
