Umphrey’s McGee w/ Huey Lewis on Jimmy Kimmel Live

How many eggs is that, Huey!? How many?
Uh, that’s three eggs, Jake…

This was a surreal moment for me being such a huge Umphrey’s McGee fan and all. I’ve been seem twenty times or so in the past few years, and seeing the guys rock out late-night television with their manager, Vince, dancing it up in the first row is just too cool.

Grab the torrent for the appearance here (registration required) (thanks Hans) or watch on YouTube.

  1. I made a point of watching this to check out what they’d play, and I recall laughing during the “How many eggs is that?” bit. I think they picked a good track. Their playing was good, though some of the members seemed a little nervous (Jake).

On a random note, I’d love to hear Springsteen cover this song. Not sure why. Probably the chorus.

  3. I happen to be out in LA travelling for work for a few months, so a buddy and I picked up a couple tickets and went down the taping. Good times! It was my first tv taping other than the Bozo show (yah Chicago!!!) when I was little.

They also played Nemo and three Huey songs. I thought Nemo was better than WWAS, and I would have much rather seen more Umphrey’s tunes than old Huey numbers. I think most of the crowd felt that way, but it was awesome nonetheless.

  5. Thanks Justin! I missed it when the show aired, so it was great to see it on your site.

Has anyone seen video of any of the other songs they played, specifically Nemo?

  7. Yep what a moment. I saw them first in ’99 in my hometown via dumbluck and since i lived in the same city as them saw them many times. I thought they would never amount to much – they were very average. They added Jake and got Kris, both imporved them alot. Now they are on Kimmell and @ the Cell. Wow!
