The New Deal is Coming to Town

Update: Download the show from bt.etree.org here.

I’ve got a chance to go see The New Deal tonight in Chicago. What do you think? Should I go? I’ve never seen them live, and while although I do like their studio stuff, that means nothing when it comes to a band’s live act.

Do they produce enough sound between the three of them to fill the entire room with hippy-house music? Hippy-house music is definitely what I’d call them. Their music has been heard on CSI. They rock.

So, whatta ya think?

  1. Here’s an update for ya’ll…

I didn’t go to the show. I’m home. Blogging. Listening to Bjork Medulla. It’s weird so far.

  3. Justin,

I hate to say it but I think you might of blown this one… I saw these guys at Langerado and they “tore it up!”

I really didn’t know what to expect, except that Joel from the band EN2 said “I really needed to check them out”… I took his advice and wasn’t disappointed.

Out of all the bands Nancy and I saw at Langerado, the New Deal was the one she commented about the most.

  5. Go see them, just don’t expect to be blown away. It’s all about expectations, you know? I’ve seen them a few times. When they’re hot, they’re hot; when they’re not, they’re not. They seem to swing between the two extremes more often than most bands I know. But, at their best, their damn good.

  7. Adam:

On tape, their shows are never fully listenable either. Like you said, it can easily be way too much of a bad thing.

  9. Truth is, I’m obviously too late to see them on this tour. They’ve come and gone past Chicago, and I’m sure I’ll get another chance to see them.
