Summer Camp 2007 | Lineup Updates

Head here or head on over to the Summer Camp Music Festival website to see the second round of artist additions, just announced yesterday…

Galactic, The Wood Brothers, Hot Buttered Rum, Melissa Ferrick, Animal Liberation Orchestra (ALO), Great American Taxi, Vince Herman, Brother’s Past, Toubab Krewe, Pnuma Trio and Bump. Still more to come!

It’s actually really cool to see them welcome back some of the bands that were there last year — but then again and at the same time, where’s the variety here? I think that’s why I like this festival so much; it’s just so nice and comfy and cozy. It really has a low-key, safe, and secure vibe to it.

  1. Toubab Krewe is really doing up the festival circuit, and all the better in my opinion.

I’m obviously siked on the BP addition. With BP and Pnuma, there’s some additional late-night dance party potential here.

And the Wood Bros. sound great. Cool to see them setting up a festival date. good additions, that add a bit more variety than the annual moe./keller thing. hope to see a few more that spread out the styles, but you’re right…Summercamp just kind trucks along with the same line-up each year. Hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, I guess.

  3. I think they know their crowd pretty well and vary up the supporters enough to make it interesting every year. I mean, you can only change so much when your first three artists announced are always 3x moe., 2x UM, and 1x Keller, right? But seriously, Les Claypool? MMW? You have to admit they do have an appropriate amount of off the wall choices thrown in.

  5. Wood Brothers are a cool band…they do a version of Get Out My Life, Woman that’s pretty damn sweet.

Bump is also a talented band. Saw those guys open up for U-Melt two years ago on a self-proclaimed “off night,” and I was still impressed.

Justin, how far is this bear from Chicago proper?

  7. Ace — this is only about two hours one way, it’s right north of Peoria so you head halfway downstate and cut west.

That’s why we’ve been there both years; it’s just so easy to get in and out of. The only rub is that you have to carry in what you camp with but even then — who cares.
