PANTyRAiD at Create Nightclub: Hollywood Photos & Recap
There is nothing quite like a night out in Hollywood. Crowds pour into some of the country’s most extravagant nightclubs, venues known less for their physical size than for their production value, atmosphere, and clientele. In 2013, Create Nightclub ranked high on that list, regularly hosting major EDM acts and some of young Hollywood’s biggest names.
With an elaborate lighting rig spanning the entire club, a wall of LED panels, and an unforgiving megawatt sound system, Create was one of my favorite venues in Los Angeles.
When I stumbled upon a flyer late that afternoon advertising PANTyRAiD’s show, I knew I couldn’t miss it. So I canceled my movie-night plans—sorry, Mom—threw on the tightest spandex I could find, and made my way to Hollywood Boulevard for what would become the best performance I had ever seen from the legendary duo.

When asked how to define their music, Ooah, also known as Josh Mayer, and MartyParty, also known as Martin Folb, described it as “whatever works and causes booty shaking and making out.” They delivered on that promise.
PANTyRAiD’s seductive synthesis of hip-hop and dubstep reflected the individual styles of both members. Detailed and skillfully crafted, the duo’s sound demonstrated the expertise they had developed while working together since 2006 and maintaining solo careers on the side. Ooah was also a member of a relatively well-known group called The Glitch Mob.
Onstage, their chemistry was undeniable. Ooah’s cool, collected presence provided the perfect balance for MartyParty’s infectious, larger-than-life personality. You could tell they were having the time of their lives.
The duo threw down a solid mix of material from Superior and The Sauce, hitting crowd-pleasers including “Get the Money,” “Beba,” and “Testarossa.” Most importantly, they demonstrated the strength of their EP PillowTalk, which had received mixed reactions following its release earlier that year.
This swagged-out and sexified duo pulled out all the stops to give the audience an unforgettable night. Confetti cannons exploded on cue, inflatable dice flew around the room, and at one point, I swear it was snowing glitter—something I thought only happened in my dreams.
Then again, someone actually created a gold-filled pill designed to make you poop glitter, so perhaps a glitter storm inside a nightclub isn’t the strangest place sparkle has turned up.
Did I shake my booty? Yup, I did. Did I make out? A real lady never kisses and tells, but let’s just say that if I did, it would have been PANTyRAiD’s fault.
At the time, Ooah and the rest of The Glitch Mob were developing a new live show to accompany an upcoming album, making PANTyRAiD’s remaining 2013 appearances feel especially significant. For that night in Hollywood, however, the duo delivered exactly what the crowd came for: bass, spectacle, and a room full of movement.
