One Year Down, Many Many More to Go…

Today, July 4, 2005, is the one year anniversary of the Live Music Blog launch. I guess it’s hugely optimistic to call it a launch considering I still had absolutely no idea what the hell I was doing, nor do I now…
When I started this blog a year ago, most of the people I knew didn’t even know what a blog was. Thanks to the 2004 Presidential Election for putting bloggers on the map. Or, thanks to the bloggers that did such a great job of asking the questions that the traditional media would not ask during the 2004 Presidential Election, thereby putting themselves on the map.
In one year’s time, what the hell I have been writing about? Who comes to this site? Why are they still coming to this site?
Firefox. I’m excited to see that nearly 23% of the visitors that come to Live Music Blog are using Firefox. Keep in mind, 10% is probably me.
News. I’ve got 200 posts that I consider “news,” and it’s certainly not me creating any news per se. I would like to think that I have the analysis and journalistic abilities that would be able to keep me in the news business for years to come, but I have to officially join the news business first anyways. Remember, blogs aren’t news. They’re blogs.
Vegoose. Ace Cowboy really blew the hell off of this roof. He finds the rumor and jumps on it. It still isn’t 100% confirmed, which is making it all that much more juicy. Seriously, it’s totally amazing that this festival has not been officially announced yet while everyone knows it’s already confirmed. Hopefully, some of that Vegoose / Google Pank Rank will keep me up once the news is released. Once that happens, everyone else with super Page Rank, including CNN, will completely take over our scoop on the Vegoose news. Oh well, you can’t win them all.
So many more thoughts could flow from my brain right now. It’s been a fun year so far. It’s taken me a whole year to actually find a layout that I think works right. Check it out now. It’s better. It’s taken me a full year to actually learn why blogs are important and the power that they possess. It’s taken me a whole year to understand that I still have a lot to learn a lot about writing, web design, HTML, CSS, Movable Type, etc. It’s taken me a whole year to realize that none of that matters. Today, we’ve broken 25,000 visitors, and I can’t wait to see how many more we’ll get this year…
To all the faithfuls that have stuck with me this year (including my wife), thanks for all the support and feedback. Without Ace Cowboy and my wife, this blog would still suck. It doesn’t anymore. There’s so much more cool s*** to come, so keep coming back…
Congrats on the milestone. How it took me so long to find your site I still can’t say for sure, but I’m glad I did. If you ever need any help in that HTML / CSS / MT stuff feel free to ask, though I think you’re doing a fine job with it so far….

I’m just happy to be along for the ride, J…it’s your world, I’m just livin’ in it.
I’m also happy to see the Jamcast subscriptions jump from 5 to 20 this past week. People, this kid is puttin’ together some great podcasts and presenting awesome music for free…get on it!
Seriously though, it’s been about two months since I signed on with this here project, and I’m already extremely glad I did and grateful to Justin for letting me write what I want, when I want and how I want (which pretty much consists of me virtually jerking Trey off most of the time).
