NPR Music has a new track up from Bon Iver, a song recorded for the upcoming movie Wish I Was Here which is Zach Braff’s “follow-up” to Garden State. The soundtrack is the thing of music blogger dreams with tracks from The Shins, The Head and the Heart, Paul Simon, plus a track that Cat Power and Coldplay recorded together.
The bigger surprise was getting Justin Vernon to pull out the Bon Iver moniker again to record new music; maybe this isn’t the last of them after all.
As the music supervisor, Mary Ramos helped choose the music for the new film. She flew to Wisconsin to screen a rough-cut of the film for Justin Vernon and his brother Nate late one night in their living room. … “Before I even left their house, Justin was recording the first version of the song in his downstairs studio. His inspiration was that immediate.”
Here’s the tracklist for the film’s soundtrack.
