Tonight marks the start of a two-night “Home for the Holidays” Celebrating Jerry Garcia run at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York. The lineup of Melvin Seals, Dead & Company‘s Oteil Burbridge, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead‘s Tom Hamilton, Widespread Panic‘s Duane Trucks, Jacklyn LaBranch and Lady Chi is going to be heavy on the Jerry tunes and vibes, and thankfully the team at Relix Live is hosting free webcasts from both shows.
Garcia’s affinity for the Capitol Theatre was made known during a November 1970 interview telling a reporter, “See, there’s only two theaters, man… that are set up pretty groovy all around for music and for smooth stage changes, good lighting and all that – the Fillmore and The Capitol Theatre. And those are the only two in the whole country.”
