Neil Young Opens Up Massive Online Archive and Drops New Album

Neil Young has done something pretty unprecedented — yet again — by announcing that he’s put up NeilYoungArchives.com, a site featuring all of his music and his work to date in one easy-to-find place.

We developed this site, neilyoungarchives.com, to provide fans and music historians with unprecedented access to all of my music and to my entire archives in one convenient location. My team and I have spent years developing this site to make it both enjoyable and easy to use. The site allows me to share with the world the material I’ve spent a lifetime creating and collecting. I hope you enjoy it.

This is something. A well designed UI that actually feels like you’re working your own stereo, there’s also a team behind this that thought about some of the product design details that matter now: let people use this thing for a bit for free to decide if they love it and want to spend time with it and give it money, with plenty of time to iterate on the price/details/experience until your trial runs out. You have basically 7 months.

Here’s the welcome message you’ll get once you sign up…

Thanks for creating a Neil Young Archives account!

Between now and June 30, you’ll have free access to the entire Neil Young Archives with unlimited streaming. So have at it! (And don’t worry; once your trial is up, you’ll be able to sign up for a subscription at a very modest cost.)

These digital archives are the first of their kind: the best possible music streaming experience, coupled with access to Neil’s personal archives (videos, photographs, original manuscripts, press, letters, and more). We are so proud and excited to share it with the world—and while we may be the first, we’re hoping we’re not the last.

If you have any questions, check out our FAQ or drop us a line. And be sure to review the audio setup page to make sure you’re ready for the best possible listening experience.

Enjoy!
