Enigmatic UK-based electronic producer Frankie Alpha droped “Bludgeoning On the Dancefloor” on June 3rd, the first single in a carefully curated series of releases leading to his highly anticipated debut EP.

His latest offering, which Alpha describes as “both frisky and a little tongue-in-cheek,” showcases his distinctive ability to weave together house, IDM, techno, and ambient elements into crafted, technical productions that work equally well on intimate bluetooth speakers and festival sound systems. “This was an extremely playful track to put together,” says Alpha about the single. “I fed off its light and floaty, synth sound and the rhythm of it. I like how the clunky bass distortions clash like peanut butter and glass with its fragmented soul sound and underlying, provocative groove.”

The track builds through experimental vocal harmonies and airy melodies before flipping the script midway.”My intention was always to suddenly take the track in a different direction, letting loose a silky bassline that was almost hiding underneath, waiting to be teased out,” Alpha explains. His meticulous production approach ensures the track translates across all listening environments, showcasing his drummer background through beat-driven foundations while incorporating the mesmerising melodies that have become his signature.

The upcoming debut EP promises to officially launch Alpha’s electronic music sound after years of experimentation, featuring diverse tracks including a playful falsetto-vocal number, an instrumental dance floor banger with nods to Aphex Twin and Caribou, a slinky summer festival piece, and a punchy Bicep-influenced collaboration with Giulia Poppy from Dope Rooms. “I want this EP to convey the message: no two FA tracks will be the same, but you may well recognise a distinctive feel passing the speaker,” Alpha adds. The strategic release schedule aligns each single with UK/European weather patterns, ensuring the vibe matches the season.

Known for his precision in every aspect of production – from intricate mixdowns to carefully constructed visual storytelling – Frankie Alpha has built a reputation over the last year with self-released singles ranging from the rolling house grooves of “My Energy My Salted Butter” to the intricate drum and bass textures of “Elm Grove.” As one half of alternative/indie international duo Dope Rooms, this multi-instrumentalist brings a unique perspective to electronic music production.  Having grown up in rural areas listening to everything from The Chemical Brothers to Deftones, his diverse influences spanning Radiohead, FKA Twigs, Battles, and Bonobo converge in productions that refuse to be confined to a single genre.

Bludgeoning On The Dancefloor” is available across all streaming platforms from June 3rd.
