2006 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Info

Talk about something way up on my list of life to-do’s, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival is something that I’ve only wanted to attend as of recently. I’ve never been this huge fan of the bluegrassy side of jambands so I’ve never put too much thought into attending that festival…

I had some family members attend with a huge RV caravan of people and they had nothing but amazing words for how amazing the festival was. That’s the best kind of recommendation, especially as I trust their opinion and their taste for wall art (as they proudly display a framed Telluride Bluegrass Festival poster in their living room).

Ever since, I’ve known that this would be a great festival to attend and I’m hoping on making it on there sometime in the next few years. They’re on their 33rd festival this year, so they’ll just have to keep that tradition alive until I make it…

Full festival and lineup after the jump, and it looks like a real doozy: Yonder Moutain String Band, Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Nickel Creek, Drive-By Truckers, Neko Case, and John Prine even. Nice.

  1. Hello Justin,
As a 20 year Festavarian who now works the Elks Harley Davidson Booth and Elks Wine Booth, I encourage you to do what ever it takes to make the trek at least once.

Words and photos just don’t convey the experience of listening to Emmy Lou bring the full moon up over Ajax, or the raspy voice of Johnny Cash when he fought with the altitude to bring this specail valley one of his last performances. The list of unforgetable moments goes on and on.

If I may give a plug here, the Telluride Elks Raffle a Harley Davidson each year on Sunday of Bluegrass (on stage) to raise money for our Veterans Committee which assists Veterans, Active Duty Personel and their families.

If any of your readers are interested, I’ve left the link.
Good Luck in making it to Bluegrass and WHEN you do, stop into the Historic Elks at Swede Finn Hall and say hi.
    Warm Regards
    Al and Betty

  3. Telluride’s an awesome festival. Not only do you get all of the great shows at the festival, tons of bands and impromptu jam session appear in the bars around Telluride at night. I went in ’97 and can’t wait to get back.

  4. I’m going to my first TBF this year and I can’t wait!!! Been a fan of bluegrass all my life and like Justin, it’s been on my list of “to do’s” but I’m an east coast girl and have never traveled further west than NOLA. As luck would have it, I got a free plane ticket to Denver through my volunteer work (attending a convention) and wow, it’s the week before the festival! Karma is for real!!! So, after Denver I’m heading to Telluride!!! Can’t wait to be there!!!!!!!! Peace, Lisa
