If you ever wanted to see what a creative paradise can look like for an artist, check out the space of Toro y Moi (aka Chaz Bear). Shot seamlessly in first person point of view, the music video of his new single, “Ordinary Pleasure”, offers a personal tour through the colorful multi-disciplinary headquarters of Company Records, showcasing a vibrant world of artists at work.
The tour starts with an introduction from Chaz to each of his bandmates before they break into live performance. He dances with contagious, joyful energy, stopping to change for a mini photoshoot, and allows us to take a peek upstairs where band members of Tanukichan make a guest appearance. You may even spot a red carpet runner on the ground floor which spells out, “Reality’s tight if the music is right”, while heading outside for a chilled out dance party with Chaz and friends.
It’s no surprise that Chaz surrounds himself with creativity of all dimensions. Always pushing the boundaries to his music, he also doubles as a visual artist who makes abstract art and graphic designs.
“Ordinary Pleasure” is the latest stand out single that accompanies last month’s release of Toro y Moi’s new album Outer Peace. “This record is a response to how disposable culture has become and how it affects creativity,” he shared in a previous interview.
Last month, we were able to catch him live at The Fillmore. See below for dates of all upcoming shows.
