Since we’re still in the dark as to when and where the Daft Punk takeover will take place, here’s a nice consolation prize from the depths of YouTube. The band putting the sans-computer funk spin on a handful of Daft Punk’s greatest hits is DJ noDJ (“a thousand-piece electronic dance band from Chicago…specializ[ing] in re-creating the music of the best DJ’s with “startling inefficiency.””). A humble description for a band embarking on such a challenging endeavor and producing such a worthy result. The Windy City ten-piece features ten musicians including Alan Berliant (Mavis Staples) on bass. Check out the 36-minute set from Martyr’s in Chitown below.
