Toadies Announce ‘The Charmer’ Album and 2026 Tour Dates
The Toadies have announced a new album, The Charmer, which they did with the legendary Steve Albini. The band’s latest offering is sure to bring more of the high octane sound they are loved for. The band is also announcing 2026 nationwide tour dates.
A press release from The Toadies’ management revealed that The Charmer will be released on May 1st, via Spaceflight Records.
The Charmer is among the few projects The Toadies recorded with Steve Albin before his unfortunate passing that have not yet been released.
An extensive nationwide tour will support The Charmer through the fall with some select festival stops. Tickets on sale Friday Feb. 20. For more info: https://thetoadies.com/tour-dates/.
Working with Albini is something the band wanted to do for a very long time explains bassist Doni Blair: “Working with Steve was, quite literally, a dream come true. It was everything I wanted and more. In my opinion it was the best recording session I’ve had in 35 years of making albums. The five of us were a team focused on making a great Toadies album, which we did.” Frontman Vaden Lewis adds: “This album has been a long time in the works, and it’s such a joy to see it come together,
we went back to basics for this session: all analogue, live takes, high energy.” Drummer Mark Reznicek adds: “I’ve been a fan of Steve Albini’s since I first heard the albums he recorded with the Pixies and PJ Harvey, so being able to record with him is really a dream come true. In fact, when we first signed with a major label, they asked us who we would like to work with and we all said “Albini!” Well, for whatever reason, the label didn’t go for it. And now 30 years later, it finally happened!”
Albini’s technique of capturing bands raw and live was the perfect match the for band’s energy resulting in the classic Toadies sound, Lewis says: “No computers were used for tracking or mixing, just old school tape and razor blade.”
Another first for the Toadies is signing with the Austin-based label Spaceflight Records, a one of a kind non-profit record label. Founded by long-time front of house engineer and producer Brett Orrison, documentary filmmaker Sam Douglas, and drummer/ founder of Interstellar Audio Machines Eric Bice. The company is staffed with creatives, including Texas musician Bryan Richie of The Sword and Rick Pierik of Nine Mile Records and the advisory board consists of producers, musicians and industry including Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers) Dave Schools (Widespread Panic), Adrian Quesada (Black Pumas) and music industry veteran Matt Pinfield.
Orrison talks about the partnership: “This felt like a natural fit. Working with Toadies reflects how we approach things at Spaceflight, supporting artists who value ownership, independence, and a sustainable way to make records.” He continues: “The Toadies have never needed context or explanation. Their music holds up on its own, and the way they operate feels intentional rather than reactive. They’re engaged with their audience, still putting weight behind physical records and live shows, and approaching releases with care. It’s about presence and purpose…They are a band that knows what matters.”
Toadies guitarist Clark Vogeler talks about the band’s new label home: “We appreciate that they’re musicians and crew workers themselves,” Vogeler continued. “They also have guys that have long histories in live music, so we just feel like it’s a great partnership for us. It’s different than the major label system, which has been super frustrating for us over the years.” And, as for The Charmer, “Musically, there’s a kind of new classic rock flavor built into Toadies. There’s always been some ZZ Top, but now there’s some Boston, Bob Seger, and Rolling Stones … and Vaden is using a lot of 7th chords, which to me can sound panicked. It’s got this extra note in there that makes you feel like something’s not right.”
Made on their own terms, fulfilling a long-held dream of recording with Albini and released through a label that puts artists first, The Charmer is the most defiantly “Toadies” Toadies album yet.

About The Toadies
With more than 30 years behind them, Toadies have built one of alternative rock’s most enduring legacies, releasing seven studio albums and playing major festivals including Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. Their hometown of Fort Worth has even declared an official “Toadies Day.”
Their platinum-selling 1994 debut Rubberneck spawned the iconic singles ‘Tyler’ and ‘Possum Kingdom,’ hit #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart, and spent 49 weeks on the Billboard 200. After reuniting in 2006, the band’s fanbase has continued to grow year after year.
Rubberneck remains a defining record of the era, earning recognition from NME, Ultimate Guitar, and Rolling Stone as one of the most influential grunge albums of the ’90s.
Spaceflight Records is an Austin-based nonprofit record label supporting those who make music through physical releases, distribution, and hands-on release management. Its work focuses on creating sustainability by restoring record sales as a meaningful source of income for working musicians.
