She & Him are hitting the road this fall for their first U.S. tour in four years, titled the “Pump Up the Volumes Tour.” The tour comes on the heels of renewed attention for their viral hit “I Thought I Saw Your Face Today,” which first debuted on their 2008 album, Volume One. Fans can expect a mix of classic favorites and tracks from their most recent albums as Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward bring nearly two decades of music to stages across the country.

A press release from She & Him’s management announced that the Pump Up The Volumes starts on September 20th in Chicago, IL at the Riviera Theatre.

Since releasing their critically lauded seventh studio album, Melt Away: A Tribute To Brian Wilson, in 2022 She & Him’s Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward experienced a sudden surge in popularity when “I Thought I Saw Your Face Today” – the very first song Deschanel shared with bandmate M.Ward for their debut album, Volume One in 2008 – became a viral hit. The song’s resurgent popularity earned the duo their first ever Billboard Hot 100 hit, 18 years after its initial release. Although never released as a single, the band performed their newly minted hit song for the first time on television last night, in a special performance for Jimmy Kimme Live!

With a string of beloved albums under their belt, including two perennially popular albums of Christmas music, She & Him have been making music together for almost two decades.

While starring in the 2007 film The Go-Getter, Deschanel was asked by director Martin Hynes to perform a duet with Ward, who has agreed to helm the movie’s soundtrack. The two recorded a cover of Richard & Linda Thompson’s “When I Get To The Border” and later reconvened in Portland, Oregon where they began recording Deschanel’s original songs. Drawing upon analog production techniques, and a shared love of vintage pop bands, the duo emerged with Volume One, a collection of songs that introduced Deschanel as a singer/songwriter in her own right.

The very first song she shared with Ward for those sessions was “I Thought I Saw Your Face Today”. The band continued their success with albums Volume Two, Volume 3 and four lauded albums of cover versions: A Very She & Him ChristmasChristmas PartyClassics, and Melt Away: A Tribute To Brian Wilson.
