Safety Trance Releases Debut Album ‘Sacrificio’, a Bold Fusion of Reggaeton and Experimental Club Music

With his debut album Sacrificio, Safety Trance brings his trailblazing vision to full fruition, turning club music into an emotional release. On this album, the reggaeton musician (real name Luis Garban) blends reggaeton rhythms along with industrial and experimental electronic styles, into a rhythmic, visceral and immersive sound. Out with a global tour, the album cements his position as an influential figure in the reconfiguration of Latin club culture and avant-garde dance music.

In a press release, Safety Trance’s management announced that Sacrificio is out now, via Club Romantico/Mad Decent.

The project finds the Venezuelan artist transforming the club into a space of emotional release, where grief, desire, and darkness are offered up and transmuted through rhythm and sweat.

Drawing from early-era reggaeton, witch house, Memphis rap, and contemporary club music, sacrificio cements Garban’s singular approach to experimental dance music. Across the album, he fuses dembow with industrial textures, trance melodies, and experimental hard techno, opening portals between underground Latin club sounds and darker electronic traditions. The project moves fluidly between collaborators and moods, from the glitchy opening alongside longtime collaborator Arca (“the beat drops”) to sensual electronica on “most of me (is elsewhere)” with Eartheater and Sega Bodega, and contributions from artists including Mexican experimental trio Meth Math. The album also includes previously released singles “no me quiero dormir” with Argentine queen Six Sex, “duro,” featuring Spanish experimentalist nusar3000 and South African-Argentinian DJ and performer Kinara, as well as “except in spring” with Lolahol.

Safety Trance will be performing around the globe this spring and summer with shows in Vancouver, San Francisco and Los Angeles this week along with sets in Europe and at Primavera in his home city of Barcelona this June. Full dates below.

Emerging in the 2000s, he has long dominated the warehouse circuit with the industrial, techno-forward aggression of his Cardopusher project, while simultaneously developing Safety Trance as a vehicle to rewire the DNA of Latin club music. After achieving acclaim as the architect behind soundscapes for visionary acts like GRAMMY-nominated collaborator Arca, he now stands at the forefront of a new wave of Latin experimental electronica.
