Piano & More Students Winter Recital Connects Generations Through Music in Northern Virginia

Recently, Piano & More presented their Winter Recital to senior communities in Arlington, McLean, Falls Church, and Washington DC, and gave residents an opportunity to experience live performance by student musicians of high talent. Instead of staging the recital in a conventional concert hall, students performed in senior living communities in the most personal and interactive format, which enabled performers and audiences to make a personal connection between them.
Bridging Generations Through Music
Musical pieces played on piano, guitar, voice, and other musical instruments became varied, and students chose a wide variety of pieces. The population was very friendly, and it was felt that they were glad and amazed by the fact that young musicians showed great talent, attention, and certainty. This was evidently touching with many seniors as performances were evident across the communities in terms of music, energy, and shared joy. This music festival highlighted the distinctiveness of music in uniting the generations and leaving a memorable impact on the students and the listeners.
Music Education in Action
The recital was a good experience of performing in a conducive real-world setting, as it was for the students. It further provided them with a first-hand experience on how their musical training can be positively applied by others to help increase their confidence and provide them with a sense of purpose. The experience revealed that music education was not only a technical one, but also one of being able to reach the community and make people happy through art.
