Believe or not, I am still working to roundup some final thoughts on SXSW 2007. In the meantime, I thought I’d throw down a little linkage to the latest Sound Opinions podcast.
If you look at the photo above, you’ll notice that the two gentlemen seated on the right are Greg Kot and Jim DeRogatis, the hosts of Sound Opinions — “the world’s only rock and roll talk show.” No, that is not a bodyguard of theirs standing up — I think he’s their producer. I remember that from the brief visit I made to a show taping of theirs early last year.
At any rate, I was down in Austin on the last day at SXSW and I happened to just stumble into the same Mexican restaurant that they were eating at. Even though I held myself back, I really wanted to stop by and chat with the two guys and just introduce myself, something that was not possible at the show taping we attended. I would never approach someone while they’re trying to eat dinner with their friends, so I simply went about my way and snapped a quick cameraphone photo on my way out of the restaurant onto the JamBase showcase…
Their latest podcast is actually their SXSW 2007 recap show so I’ll be giving that a solid listen today.
