Bassnectar came back to Morrison, CO last Saturday for the second night of his SOLD OUT two-night Red Rocks run. Between nights, there was a vicious wind storm that caused his insane lighting and sound setup to collapse. As a result all of the attendees were called or e-mailed and told that doors were pushed back two hours from 6pm to 8pm. Fortunately everyone was thrilled to rage later into the summer evening and especially to gain a couple more hours in the lot.
For those of you that haven’t been to Red Rocks yet, its multiple lots are raging complete with the ultimate tailgaters and hippies selling glass, wraps and a slew of party favors. One might say there’s a “festy-like” environment in these lots before shows. After waiting in a very long line to make it into the venue, I made it in as VibeSquad was on an blasting some bass. Flying Lotus followed him playing a little bit of everything and definitely a wompier set than was expected. The audience appreciated this out of an opener for Bassnectar.
Following Flying Lotus there was a short break before Bassnectar came on for an auditory slaughter of the crowd from which all I could see were “bass faces.” Even though the storm caused problems for his team during the day, you would have had no idea it had ever happened.
