California natives The Mother Hips returned to their old stomping grounds this past weekend, rocking out at the tiny, intimate venue in Hermosa Beach, CA known as Saint Rocke. The Saint Rocke is a 300-person venue sandwiched in the heart of Hermosa Beach and what is known to the locals as the South Bay. The Hips crushed in this small venue belting out both old Hips classics and newer tunes alike. Tim Bluhm commented several times on how glad he was to “be home” (he is from Manhattan Beach).
The crowd was filled with locals who are friends and family of the band, and The Hips didn’t disappoint and delivered one of the best shows I have seen from them, with much love. The band formed in 1991 and have been delivering classic rock/edge/jam sounds ever since.
