AllThingsD is reporting that the YouTube subscription music service won’t be launching this year even though the company is close to rolling it out. The company hasn’t even formally confirmed that this will ever happen, but sources close to the company have deemed it so and traces have supposedly appeared in their app making it seem that much more likely.
YouTube, which has never formally acknowledged the service, continues not do so. Here’s a non-statement from a YouTube rep: ‘We’re always working on new and better ways for people to enjoy YouTube content across all screens, and on giving partners more opportunities to reach their fans. However, we have nothing to announce at this time.’
