Woodstock 50 is moving from the original proposed site of Vernon Downs (vis a vis Watkins Glen) and will take place at Merriweather Post Pavilion the weekend of August 16-18, 2019. As of Saturday (7/27), Jay-Z, John Fogerty and Dead and Company are all out.
The venue change isn’t even fully a done deal either, but now the organizers just need to figure out how to sell tickets and make sure the artists are still onboard. Wow.
In case you’re forgetting, this is the last proposed “full lineup” of the festival.
The dates remain the same, just a smaller venue and 250 miles away from, ya know, WOODSTOCK, but whatever.
The festival is now slated to take place Aug. 16 through Aug. 18 at Merriweather Post Pavilion, an outdoor amphitheater in Columbia, Maryland, according to documents obtained by Bloomberg. The venue should be able to accommodate about 32,000 people.
They’re also saying tickets could run anywhere from $100-600 for tickets.
Organizers aim to charge $129 to $595 for one-day passes to the event, according to current plans. And they’ve circulated a marketing plan that includes emails to more than 800,000 people, billboards across Washington, Maryland and Northern Virginia, and a full-page ad in local newspapers.

As for the artists on the bill, John Fogerty announced shortly after this news went live that he will be performing and has routed his tour specifically to the Woodstock area of the country and that’s where he’ll be staying. Fogerty out. Jay-Z won’t be closing the festival either. And Rolling Stone says Dead and Co are out, too.
