The rare Dragon Smoke headlined Tipitina’s Uptown on Saturday night (after opening band Sol Driven Train with George Porter Jr.), making their 2nd appearance since Jazz Fest last year (the band also played in mid-December). All involved players happened to be giggin’ on Saturday afternoon at Tulane’s annual Crawfest (Eric Lindell with his band, Ivan Neville with Dumpstaphunk and Robert Mercurio and Stanton Moore with Galactic) and the all-star band took it as a sign to play a proper show. Dragon Smoke is set to return to the stage soon at their annual Jazz Fest mid-week gig on Tuesday, May 1st at One Eyed Jacks.
