The gang at SiriusXM recently chatted with Trey Anastasio about the upcoming 25th Anniversary of the first-ever Madison Square Garden Phish show during the New Year’s Eve 1994 run on 12/30/94.
You can see Trey taken aback by the initial line of questioning, but as he scans his memory banks of all the various MSG shows they’ve played in the past, he clearly locks in on the 30,000 foot view and he notes that he feels remarkably comfortable in that room. He knows the reverb, he knows the floor bounce, and it’s clear he feels at ease on that stage.
