I have been completely floored since the James Blake set this past weekend at Treasure Island Music Festival. Having seen Blake before, I was ready for it to finally make sense to me, as his minimalist approach to soulful electronic music just seemed a bit too sparse for my tastes at first. And maybe it was the pretty girl next to me or just the amazing weekend I was having up until that point, but his set hit at sundown on Sunday and it just seemed perfectly suited being on the beach in the middle of a cold, foggy day. I’ve had Overgrown on repeat ever since. He’s got a tour starting tonight down in Los Angeles at the Wiltern and he plays tomorrow at Hollywood Forever Cemetary, two shows I wish I could travel for at this point.
Read on for the rest of his dates and don’t miss this show if you can help it.
