The boys from the Mississippi hill country returned once again to one of their favorite venues (even mentioning at one point that NMAS should have a monthly gig at Tip’s – one can dream), continuing to operate as a model of consistency and delivering a lengthy display of instrumental mastery for the packed-out house. It was a thoroughly rowdy night on the corner of Tchoup that felt downright quintessential in the familiar haunt. The formula is simple: Empassioned, rockin’ blues jams and a genuine sense of realness that’s hard to match. I’ve been watching these guys deliver for nearly a decade and can honestly say that I’ve never left feeling underwhelmed, the things they are capable of on the slide guitar, bass, drums and washboard always make the jaw drop and last night was no exception.
