Trent Reznor has been making some serious news tonight after announcing last week that Nine Inch Nails had finished a new album and was planning on releasing it later this year on Columbia Records. Then tonight, not only did a new single drop called “Come Back Haunted,” but an entire North American arena tour was announced and Consequence of Sound is telling us it’ll be called Tension. The new album is called Hesitation Marks and it’s set for a September 3rd release, and you can sample that first single below:
Read on for the tour dates, which will include Explosions in the Sky and Godspeed You! Black Emperor as openers on some of the dates. They’re also doing sets at Lollaplooza, Outside Lands, Made in America and Mountain Oasis.

For the last year I’ve been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly f***ing great. This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!”
