The people in Rhode Island have another treat on their hands this weekend in the Newport Jazz Festival. Included will be favorite, Bill Frisell performing from the songbook of John Lennon on Saturday Evening. A can’t miss set. The best part about those who can’t attend (like me) is that many performances will be broadcast throughout the weekend online by NPR.
Besides a performance from the songbook of John Lennon, Frisell also plays two more times, with The Bad Plus (pianist Ethan Iverson, bassist Reid Anderson, and drummer Dave King), and with Jenny Scheinman.
