Yet another new festival enters the arena. The first ever Mile High Festival will take place July 19th and 20th at the Fields at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado (9 miles outside of downtown Denver). Headliners include Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Steve Winwood, and The Black Crowes.
We’ve heard some rumblings of a new festival for the Denver Metro area, so I guess this is the one. And it’s a lineup that should grab some national attention. I don’t get the sense that these headliners will drive a ton of interest from the jam kids or the indie hipsters, but those folks might take a look at the rest of the lineup and dig what they see. It’s an interesting strategy and might just pay off for a city-specific festival like this one.
