Menomena is one of those “acquired taste” sort of bands — I think you either love their music or you hate it.

I got to see one of their sets down at SXSW 2007 — they were slated on the last day of The Hot Freaks blogger party — and unfortunately, I came away scratching my head. Everyone else in the crowd was super into it, especially in comparison to myself having never heard any of the band’s music before strolling over to catch out their set.

The band is headed out on the road this summer and they’re one of the majors at the 2007 Pitchfork Music Festival, so there’s plenty of chances to catch their random instrument thrashing in it’s full glory.
