The nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2013 are officially in. For the first time fans can cast their vote for 2013 inductees via an online ballot. Check out the fifteen nominees, how to vote and the always surprising list of Hall of Fame snubs.
Nominees: Albert King, Chic, Deep Purple, Donna Summer, Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Kraftwerk, the Marvelettes, the Meters, N.W.A., Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Procul Harum, Public Enemy, Randy Newman and Rush.
For the first time in the Hall of Fame’s history, voting will be open to the fans via an Online Fan Poll. As of press time, Rush already has a good lead with 28% of the fan vote. The top five artists will comprise a “fans’ ballot” that will be tallied along with the other ballots to choose the 2013 inductees. The 28th Award ceremony will take place on April 18th, 2013 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, CA. The ceremony hasn’t been held on the West Coast since 1993. It will be broadcast on HBO at a later date.
This is the first time Rush and Deep Purple have been nominated for the Hall of Fame. They’ve been eligible since the 90’s. Deep Purple is a bittersweet nominee as the band’s founder and keyboard player Jon Lord died in July at the age of 71.

To be eligible for 2013, acts must have released their first single or album no later than 1987.
Nirvana can’t be nominated until 2014. Same as Phish and the Traveling Wilburys.
