Well, they’ve actually done it. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard set out to release five complete albums during 2017, and with today’s release of Gumboot Soup, it completes the quinfecta: Flying Microtonal Banana, Murder Of The Universe, Sketches Of Brunswick East, Polygondwanaland, and Gumboot Soup.
How many bands do you know that would attempt something like this?! Back when I first read about it on NME, I thought they were crazy.
We finished the first one, ‘Flying Microtonal Banana’, a couple of months ago and have been working on two others since then. One’s kinda jazzy and is a collaboration with our buddies Mild High Club. The other is kinda heavy and has some ties with ‘Nonagon Infinity‘. Four and five are too far in the future to think about right now!”
Thankfully that future finally came and we got two amazing albums to close out the year: Polygondwanaland and Gumboot Soup. You can stream the new one below via Bandcamp or YouTube.
