The High Sierra Music Festival turns 25 years old this year and they’ve just announced the first batch of bands that’ll help them celebrate. The String Cheese Incident tops the list and it certainly speaks to the history of the small-town festival. SCI last headlined High Sierra in 1999 just before the event moved from Bear Valley to its new home in Quincy. SCI and High Sierra helped break into the mainstream together so it’s only fitting they reunite for the 25th. Something not to be overlooked is the inclusion of The Slip who haven’t played together since 2012–we at LIVE are very much looking forward to those reunion sets under the Plumas pines. Other LIVE favorites include ALO, The Wood Brothers, The California Honeydrops and more; check out the lineup below…

High Sierra has always been the Little Engine that could chugging along with competitive lineups against stiff competition on Fourth of July weekend every year. They’ve previously raced against Rothbury (now Electric Forrest), Phish’s Super Ball, and now that will hold true again this year with competition from The Dead’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, FARE THEE WELL in Chicago. The choice for me was an easy one…I’ve haven’t felt the grass of the Plumas County Fairgrounds in over two years so I’m itching to get back to Big Meadow.
Expect the second round of artist announcements in March if history serves us right. Grab your FestivALL, General Admission and RV passes while they’re hot. This is going to be a good one!
