It looks like 2014 is shaping up to be a big year for one of our favorites around these parts, Carrie Brownstein. The former NPR Music blogger will likely be reuniting her Sleater-Kinney project after that Pearl Jam encore sit-in, and just today IFC announced that Portlandia is returning with a HUGE season starting on February 27th. Special guests spread across the season will include Jeff Tweedy, Jello Biafra, Kirsten Dunst, Tunde Adebimpe (TV on the Radio), Maya Rudolph, and Dan Savage (among others). Very exciting.
Here’s a few other things catching our attention:
- When Panda Bear puts out a mix, we stop what we’re doing and listen to it. Check it.
- Flying Lotus has confirmed that he’ll put out another album in 2014 following up his Until the Quiet Comes release last year.
- While we only saw one Mike Gordon tour date posted so far, JamBase found a few more (NY, Minneapolis) and Phish.net found a date in Portland. Tour announcement seems imminent.
- St. Vincent followed up yesterday’s new single release with the announcement today for her 2014 tour.
- LISTEN TO THIS: Four Tet, live in Tokyo.
Finally, get in the Christmas spirit today with this “All I Want For Christmas is You” cover that Mariah Carey did with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots (done children-instrument style).
