Grace Potter News = Blog

Grace Potter & the Nocturnals just implemented a blog-style news section into their website. Makes sense to me.

I think we’re going to start seeing a lot more of this kind of setup…at the very least for the simple fact that blogging is such an easy way for a band to speak directly with their fans.

I’m going to hit this subject a lot harder over the next few weeks, but it amazes me that more bands are not using blogs and podcasting as a way to reach out to their fans. Especially their live music. Most bands have a treasure trove of material that their fans would love to hear, and yet it goes untapped and mostly ignored by most in the music industry.

Bands like Umphrey’s McGee, Los Lobos, Wilco, Widespread Panic, and many others are taking advantage of this. And they’re going to earn a lot of new fans as a result. Kudos on that.

Here’s a gem from the Grace Potter .com redesign…

Update: Kane brings up a good point I overlooked…

How about Tea Leaf Green’s site? In my opinion easily *the best* artist site for fan interaction. Setlists, links to downloads of every show available, forums, show tracker/stats functions, all integrated really well.
