Fans of indie rock in Toronto are in for a treat on the weekend of June 7-8, as the Field Trip Music Festival will be hosting Broken Social Scene and Interpol as headliners playing in downtown Toronto at Fort York & Garrison Common. The festival, which served as the Arts & Crafts 10th Anniversary party last time around, is now a full-fledged event and will feature numerous other acts that are Canadian friendly, including LIVE faves like Washed Out, Lord Huron and CHVRCHES.
Read on for the press release from the fest as well as the lineup announced so far. Tickets are on sale already so jump on it before the cheap seats sell out.
FIELD TRIP returns for 2014 – expanding from its organic beginnings as a celebration of Arts & Crafts’ 10th anniversary into a world-class, two-day boutique music and arts festival situated in the heart of downtown Toronto at Historic Fort York & Garrison Common.
The 2014 edition will unfold across two days, headlined once again by A&C flagship group Broken Social Scene’s sole performance of the year, this time joined by legendary New York rock band Interpol alongside a mix of Canadian and international headliners and exciting emerging talent.
Notably, Field Trip will host the return of beloved Guelph icons Constantines, with 2014 marking a special 11th anniversary of their seminal album Shine A Light.
Other highlights include Hydra – the musical project of AroarA, Feist, and Snowblink – international stars Chvrches, The Kills, Lord Huron and Washed Out as well as legendary collaborators Gord Downie & The Sadies.
Internationally recognized Toronto outfits will also be on full display including Fucked Up, BADBADNOTGOOD, Kevin Drew, Do Make Say Think, Austra and many, many more making Field Trip’s 2014 lineup the summer’s most interesting and eclectic.
And, like last year – Field Trip will program well beyond music – with a focus on highlighting the community’s best culinary offerings, as well as collaborative explorations on the themes of art, photography, technology, fashion and more.
Families are welcome and encouraged. Kids 12 and under get in free.
“It was always going to be a tough task to match the magic and wonder of our first Field Trip but we’re going for it. We’re hosting a killer lineup that still includes – and now reaches beyond – the Arts & Crafts roster. Around the festival grounds you’ll find an even more awesome array of creative activities, artist collaborations and bespoke vendors. There’s so much to explore and experience that we couldn’t fit it all in one day, so Field Trip is now a weekend-long celebration of our great Toronto… our creative communities, our global spirit and our love of music.”
– Jeffrey Remedios, Arts & Crafts President and Field Trip Co-Director
