The gang over at Partisan and Knitting Factory Records have announced the launch of the first-ever official website and comprehensive historical resource for the life and music of Fela Kuti. Head over to felakuti.com to give it a glance.

Developed in close partnership with the Kuti family, felakuti.com also aims to be a one stop shop for news about re-issues from Fela’s catalog, new projects and events, commissioned editorial, official merchandise, partnerships, + more.

The historical records of Kuti’s life were written by Afrobeat historian Chris May, which begins in Fela’s early life in Lagos on through his career as musician, producer, arranger, political radical, outlaw, and originator of Afrobeat. It features never before seen photos, rare live footage, and a full and detailed discography (not an easy to task to organize for the first time ever either).

Check it.
