Last night at Eric Clapton‘s Crossroads Guitar Festival, the big payoff moment for the crowd was during the headlining set when Eric Clapton brought out a ripping “Layla” that featured fellow bluesman and frequent collaborator of the guitarist, John Mayer, as well as Doyle Bramhall II who adds a much needed depth and shreds when he needs to. Mayer also plays in the current version of the Grateful Dead known as Dead & Company and just finished a big solo tour.
The night before at Crossroads, Clapton actually sat in with Peter Frampton for the first time EVER and they delivered a killer version of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” which you can watch here.
As for the “Layla” jam, check it out below…
Mayer stayed on and did “Cross Roads Blues” with Clapton which you can watch below as well.
