Dead & Company have been the vehicle carrying the music of the Grateful Dead forward following the band’s “final” Fare Thee Well 50th Anniversary run where the surviving, originating members decided to call it quits as a crew together. As you know, Dead & Co took Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, and Mickey Hart and paired them up with Jeff Chimenti, John Mayer, and Oteil Burbridge and they’ve been a touring powerhouse ever since. Sadly that all changes next year.
The Dead & Co team just announced that in Summer 2023, they’ll be delivering their own version of a Fare Thee Well with what they’re dubbing The Final Tour.
Word travels fast and we wanted to be the first to let you know that Dead & Company will be hitting the road next summer for what will be our final tour.
Stay tuned for a full list of dates for what will surely be an exciting, celebratory, and heartfelt last run of shows.
As you can see by the statement, the band doesn’t have dates confirmed yet past their Playing in the Sand 2023 event in Mexico, but no doubt we’ll be seeing a massive tour get announced in the coming months that will hopefully give fans plenty of chances to catch this group together as one.
