Heems, Kool A.D. and Dapwell aka Das Racist are apparently no more. Heems announced onstage in Munich last night that the band has broken up. According to Pitchfork, Das Racist was set to perform at the On3 Festival, but the show turned out to be just a Heems solo set, who told the crowd:
“Alright, so I’m going to do some Das Racist songs, but Das Racist is breaking up and we’re not a band anymore.”
Kool A.D. then tweeted that he quit the band two months prior:
for the record i quit das racist 2 months ago and was asked by our manager not to announce it yet. apparently @himanshu wanted to do it tho.

A little over a year ago, Das Racist graced the October 2011 “Funny” issue of SPIN magazine and now the group is reportedly no more. Just last month, Heems told Rolling Stone that a pilot for a Das Racist t.v. show was in the works in addition to a new DR album but for now, all that appears to have been put on indefinite hold. Add Das Racist to the list alongside Girls and Bon Iver of still fairly new acts who’ve decided to take a break / break it off indefinitely in 2012. Time will tell if we’ll see these guys together again.
