Valentine’s Day is nearly upon us. While for some that means another Hallmark holiday of feigned appreciation, if you’re in the San Francisco area this weekend, for YOU it can mean an evening of revelry, brass and plenty of booty shaking.
For the third year running, the Cosmic Love Ball’s celebration of life, love and music returns to SF this Saturday, February 9, at the Fillmore. Leading the cause is Rubblebucket, whose latest EP, Oversaturated, was named one of last year’s best by Paste Magazine. The Brooklyn band’s infectious beats, spacey melodies and funky arrangements should keep the crowd’s hearts thumping and feet moving throughout the night.
Kicking off the party will be local horn blowers and beat throwers, The North Beach Brass Band and the Ambassador of East Coast Disco, DJ Wyllys, will be holding down the decks in between sets. Rounding out the lineup is house band Materialized, whose electronic jams aptly fit the cosmically themed evening.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at the Fillmore box office or online via Ticketmaster. Photos and more information can be found at the event website, cosmicloveball.com. Get funky. Bring the love (and the glitter).
