As we mentioned last month, Cold War Kids are embarking on an extensive world tour in support of their new LP, announced for release September 23. The tour starts on Saturday for a short run Down Under and then will pass through Europe before heading back to LA for the US leg of the tour. Recently the group tacked on a whole new set of dates, all of which are overseas in Europe.
The group broke onto the scene in late 2005 with a percussive, stripped-down sound. Lead singer Nathan Willet has one of the best voices going in rock music and their live show is highly enjoyable. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch a raucous version of “St. John” that includes all of the supporting acts on the bill. Follow the jump for all the dates and a link to a new track…
I am really hoping that the CWK upcoming album does fall into the sophomore slump that a lot of bands’ second LPs have fallen victim. They have a very basic sound that is steeped in blues and sou, and keeping with that formula would prove them well. They’ve got a free download of the first single off Loyalty to Loyalty up on their website. Click here.
