Last spring Atmosphere released When LIfe Gives You Lemons, You Paint that Shit Gold, which saw the highest level of success for any of their albums to date. Moving away from the melodramatic narrative that has predominated most of their previous albums, When Life Gives You Lemons has redemption as its main theme and branches into a number of different concepts from a production standpoint. I was able to see the group back in April and, minus the heat at the Metro and Midwest frat contingent in the audience, it was a very solid show.
Mixing live band elements with Slug’s very clean, minimalist production adds weight to a live show that I already consider to be one of hip-hop’s best. The group will be touring most of the US this fall and are hitting some medium sized markets. I’ll have the good fortune to catch them in Denver and San Diego on my own fall tour but more on that later. If you haven’t yet to see Atmosphere live, do so; they are super talented and it shows in the live setting. Follow the jump for dates.
