The Beale Street Music Festival takes place in Memphis each Spring to kick off the month-long celebration of music known as “Memphis in May.” The festival draws in sixty performers playing on four different stages and features a party-like atmosphere which has earned it the nickname of “The Mardi Gras of the Mid-South.”
Judging by the line-up, the 2007 Beale Street Music Festival should be at least as fun as those of days past. This year they’ve line up performances by musicians as varied as Social Distortion and Jerry Lee Lewis, Godsmack and Steely Dan, and Umphrey’s McGee and Three 6 Mafia. And with the likes of the Allman Brothers, Derek Trucks Band, Gov’t Mule, Taj Mahal, etc…they’ve got some big guitar talent, leaning heavilyy towards classic blues and Southern rock.
