From the Intonation Music Fest announce list…
“This year’s annual Intonation Music Festival (IMF), scheduled for June 24 and 25, 2006 in Chicago’s Union Park, has nearly completed its unique lineup. Added to Sunday’s bill are seminal rock pioneers Blue Cheer, playing their first Chicago show in 25 years, and former Guided By Voices frontman Robert Pollard.
Blue Cheer, the San Francisco band widely credited with “inventing” hard rock, will make their first Chicago appearance since 1971 on Sunday, joining an impressive lineup headlined by VICE artist Bloc Party. Also appearing on the festival’s second day is Robert Pollard, who released his first post-GBV album From A Compound Eye to rapturous acclaim earlier this year. Other acts added to Sunday are the astonishing Austin, TX band The Sword, Chicago MC Rhymefest, who won a Grammy for co-writing “Jesus Walks” with Kanye West, and local hero Bill Dolan (5ive Style, Heroic Doses), playing with Matt Lux (Isotope 217) and John Herndon (Tortoise).
Now added to Saturday’s lineup is San Francisco’s angular chaos queens Erase Errata and VICE recording artist Favourite Sons.”
