It doesn’t get much better than Jazz Fest After Dark and we’re thrilled to be back again, presenting two shows down at One Eyed Jacks in the French Quarter, a must-see venue for anyone making the rounds at JF this year for the first time. After last year’s successful LMB NOLA Presents Garage a Trois show, we’ve decided to up the ante and present a pair of shows – one for each weekend of the JF marathon. It’s quite fitting that we’re presenting an Eddie Roberts’ West Coast Sounds show in NOLA. We’re all huge fans of the fleet-fingered soul-jazz guitar maestro’s main squeeze The New Mastersounds, many of us (like Eddie) are transplants to the Left Coast ourselves, and it almost goes without saying that we all share a huge affinity for the Big Easy and its downright legendary music scene. Needless to say, we’re pumped to help promote his new side project and the upcoming late night action at Jacks. Moreover, Eddie’s now-local home venue in San Fran is the Boom Boom Room, is also a spot many LMB contributors frequent and a venue LMB founder Justin’s band NVO plays quite a lot.
For this show, Eddie is playing in support of his new record It’s About Time and, as anyone who’s been apart of this magical musical marathon knows, the real action doesn’t even begin to take place until well after the gates of the Fairgrounds have closed. On 4/27, settle deep into the jazz grooves and funk furrows Eddie will be layin’ down and stay awhile. You’ll be damn glad you did.
