LISTEN: Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” (Radio Edit)

daftpunk2013duoLast weekend a handful of poorly edited clips and remixes made the rounds of Daft Punk’s new song “Get Lucky” and this morning Rolling Stone re-posted (page has since been removed) excerpts of the recent interview with the French-duo and included what they thought was the real, un-altered studio version. Turns out, it’s just an expertly done faux version of the track. Daft Punk’s ability to play mind games on the mainstream music press, blogs and fans has boiled to a fever pitch and now, even when the band itself does nothing, even reputable and fully staffed institutions like Rolling Stone are taking the fan-made bait. It’s somewhat startling just how much hype surrounds this release – the kind of highly-anticipated lead-up to a single/album we’ve yet to see in the digital era. Check out the version played on a Dutch radio station which matches the track listing on You be the judge.

UPDATE 4/18/13: MTV News has confirmed that “Get Lucky” will be made available for download at exactly 12:01 a.m. ET on Friday (April 19) and the version played on two radio stations is indeed the radio-edit. Listen to it below:

UPDATE 4/19/13: “Get Lucky” is now available on as a single; go pick it up!

“The Seventies and the Eighties are the tastiest era for us…”It’s not that we can’t make crazy futuristic sounding stuff, but we wanted to play with the past.” – Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel

  1. This clearly isn’t the real version of the song guys, there’s a thousand reasons I could explain why, but for now – please save yourself some credibility and remove the clip.

  2. To your credit, it’s Rolling Stone’s fault for being too stupid to realize this isn’t the real thing.

  3. Wow.. so most people who took time to comment here, didn’t even listen to the song being played twice? How could that have possibly been fake???

If a person could make ‘fake music’ that way, he shouldn’t have to ……..
