DAY THREE | Sunday May 12th, 2019
After Saturday’s big blowout and fully stacked day of music, everything was moving a little slower on Sunday morning and we were all reveling in the fact that the weather had held out, it wasn’t wildly hot or dusty, and the festival had been incredible so far. The spirits and vibes around this entire festival was just absolutely vibrating with positivity.
Around exploring all the other amazing elements of Arcosanti on the final day, we were able to catch artists like Fred Armisen, Snail Mail, SASAMI, Julie Byrne, Robert Glasper, Vieux Farka Touré, Nicola Cruz, DJ Koze and finally the closing set with Skrillex.
Fred Armisen was the first act scheduled on the final day and delivered his unique blend of comedy for musicians based on his recent Netflix special.
Along with his jokes for musicians he did some old standbys like when he does impression of accents around the United States.
If you didn’t look closely, you’d miss a lot of the details that make Arcosanti unique and beautiful.
Once again, Leon the cat came and delivered the sit-in of a lifetime during the set. Total rockstar.
Around the grounds…
The Envelop stage was the cuddle puddle area of the festival, but for audio nerds like me, this was one of the coolest exhibits. Sounds traveled between a 8-speaker surround system and had special music mixed for that spatial mix. Set on the side of a canyon with perfect weather and some serious vibe-y music and this is something I hope they bring back every time.
Quick stop back at camp…
Snail Mail was a perfect mid-afternoon set in the Amp
SASAMI was following in Vaults who was joined by Snail Mail…
…and they created a punk song on the spot.
The bells of Arcosanti
Concrete gets mixed with local dirts to allow a more flowing blend of the architecture within the views of the environment
Julie Byrne delivered a beautiful set in the Amp
Robert Glasper delivered a jazz fusion set in Amp that blew minds and brought some musical variation to the close of the weekend for most people.
Skrillex closed things out and most of our photos came out blurry and dark, just like he would have wanted it, so here’s a clip from his IG.
Thanks, FORM. Thanks, Arcosanti. Thanks, Hundred Waters. We’ll be back.
