Cory Henry Brings “The Church Experience” Residency to New York City for First-Ever Brooklyn Homecoming Show

Cory Henry is bringing his celebrated live residency The Church Experience to New York City for the first time, extending a project that has built a strong following in Los Angeles. The series blends music, fellowship, and community-driven performances, growing steadily through sold-out shows and word of mouth rather than traditional touring. The upcoming NYC edition also marks a return to Brooklyn, where the foundation of his sound and creative direction first took shape.

In a press release, Cory Henry’s team announced that The Church Experience in New York City (for the first time) will be on July 12.

After a year of consecutive sold-out performances at The Miracle Theater, the Brooklyn native Henry now returns home to introduce the residency to the city that first shaped his musical and spiritual foundation. Get tickets HERE.

Over the past year, The Church Experience has become one of Los Angeles’ most consistent and talked about music events, with each monthly installment selling out at The Miracle Theater without the backing of a traditional promoter or national touring campaign. The evening begins with the option to enjoy a VIP soul food dinner before the music starts, reinforcing the sense of gathering and shared experience that has become the hallmark of the series.

The residency is a direct extension of Henry’s 2025 GRAMMY-winning album Church, a deeply personal project rooted in faith, family, and musical lineage growing up in the Brooklyn church. Coming off that win, Henry made a deliberate decision to step away from the demands of full-time touring in order to invest in something more lasting and intentional. Rather than continue a grueling non-stop touring schedule and chasing the hustle of digital streaming metrics, he felt called to invest in his own ecosystem centered around music, fellowship, and community.

While Los Angeles became the proving ground for The Church Experience, bringing the residency to New York has always been part of the vision. Returning to Brooklyn represents both a homecoming and the beginning of a new chapter as Henry expands a community-first live experience built through independent venues, word of mouth, and human connection to multiple cities across the US. At a time when artists across the industry are reexamining the sustainability of traditional touring, The Church Experience has emerged as a compelling alternative: an independent artist cultivating recurring demand, direct audience relationships, and a destination live event that prioritizes community over convention.

Known for a roster of special guests that have included the likes of KevOnStage, Eric Gales, aja monet, Lalah Hathaway, Kim Burrell, and MonoNeon (and even Stevie Wonder in attendance), the NYC edition will be no different with surprises in store. The NYC debut will feature 83-year old preacher Muvva Jeter, making her live performance debut in celebration of her debut album We’re Having Good Church, which Henry produced and performed all the instruments entirely himself.

The series also features The Apostle Community Choir, a vocal ensemble that has grown to over 30 singers from all ages and backgrounds, many of whom maintain active careers as artists, producers, and musicians in their own right.

“I’ve always wanted to have a choir since I was a kid,” Henry reflects. “This is an add-on to all of these Church Experiences we’ve been doing. I realized one of the biggest parts of gospel music and soul music is choirs — and choirs build fellowship. We’re joining together to build fellowship amongst musicians and amongst the people.”

Over the course of its first year, The Church Experience has gained critical acclaim. Forbes has cited the series as “the most joyful show in America.” The Church Experience has also received praise in Fox 11’s Good Day LA, KCRW, The SoCal Sound, LAist, Glide Magazine, JamBase, and more.

The show & VIP dinner begin at 6:30 and the show begins at 7:30. Get tickets HERE.
