Club D’elf Knit Run Cancelled
Earlier this month I raved about Club D’elf and its month-long stay at the Knitting Factory in New York City. Unfortunately, that run has ended more prematurely than a romp in the sack with the Ace Cowboy. Wait, pretend I didn’t say that.
This, from bassist Mike Rivard:
“Thanks for the props. Unfortunately the Knit has canceled the rest of the month for us, citing low alcohol sales. What a great biz this is. Thanks for trying to help, and we’ll be back in NYC in Sept. or Oct. at Tonic, a much more D’elf-friendly venue.”
That sucks. Oh well, see you at Tonic.
What’s worse, Marco was supposed to sit in for the rest of the month…
From their last newsletter (which our little blog post was featured in):
“we regret to inform you that the knitting factory – what’s that great
orson welles line from the commercial outtakes…”in the DEPTHS of (their)ignorance” – has elected to cancel the rest of our august residency. cue collective groan and boos. apparently the alcohol sales at the last 2 shows just weren’t what they wanted to see, and when you get down to it folks, that’s what really counts in this business ( cue hunter s. thompson line ). but that’s ok – i can use the sleep. it is a bummer though, as the show last week with marco benevento busting his d’elf cherry, was so much fun – so much so that marco was going to come back for the rest of the month. oh well. we’re sorry but looking forward to playing in nyc again sometime soon, at a venue that is more friendly to the
d’elf. look for a show at tonic ( yeah, tonic! ) in october, and maybe
something in brooklyn. in the meantime if you’re in the 617 you can get your trance groove on this thursday. check it :”
